PORKY P. PIGG COMPUTER SIMULATIONS COMPANY (P.P.P.C.S.C.)
'WET SHEEP' (VERSION 1.4, 05/10/2013)
FOR 'THE SETTLERS - RISE OF AN EMPIRE' STANDARD RELEASE 1.7
Has anyone who has downloaded this map managed the challenge at the end to reach the title Archduke? Please post on the appropriate thread if you have. I'd be interested to hear how you did it.
In short, this map is small and simple. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't a few twists in the tale...
It's nothing particularly exciting, but I've tried to make the terrain look its best, and add a few surprises.
Basically, you are back on Westerlin, the homeland of the Empire, in a quiet dale where nothing much happens.
That is, until recently there have been a series of dramatic storms, and the valley has been flooding fast. The village here is just clinging on above the water line, but the rain is holding off and it might just survive. The sheep, however, are under rather greater threat, because they can't swim very well.
So you've been drafted in to rescue them.
Although it might sound slightly similar, this map is nothing like the built-in custom map 'Roundup'. For a start, there is no enemy city here, just your own fledgling settlement and a partially-flooded village. Or at least, that is what it might seem at first, until you discover that bandits have settled in (as they always seem to!). Not only that, but there have been reports of a giant gathering of bandits to the far south, across a lake. They can't get here at the moment, but then at the same time, the Empire's troops can't get to them to finish them off.
Be very careful out here... this map doesn't have any quests that are too great a challenge, but one mistake and those sheep will suffer!
Basically this is a small test map, which should only take you about an hour and a half to complete (if you increase the time compression a lot).
As always it took about five times longer to get the quests right than it did to make the landscape and set up the AI. It still might contain errors though - do report them if you discover any (post here... or send me a PM if you have a more personal problem).
The names in this map, by the way, are rather odd, and I really don't know what I was thinking; there's not much real toponymy here!
Anyway, I learned a lot, so you can expect my next project to be a great deal better!
Meanwhile, enjoy my first little map, and look after those sheep!
Ride out to the new settlement of Limmort, for the Sheep and for the Empire!
